Hawthorne Kitchen Cabinets

When it comes to a kitchen remodeling project, you need a professional kitchen designer from a design & build company to help you make all of the important decisions. Their job is to guide you, the homeowner, through the entire process so that the end result is a beautiful, livable space that meets your functional, aesthetic, and economical goals. They will make sure all of your selections will coordinate perfectly into the kitchen style and design you have requested.

The Conceptual Design

Your kitchen renovation begins with a conceptual design. A Trade Mark Design & Build Representative will first come to your home for a complimentary field visit. During this visit you can discuss the project. Describe exactly what you expect from the remodel and let the designer know your personal preferences as well as what styles you find the most appealing. Your designer will let you know what it will require to achieve your dream kitchen.

After this visit, drawings will be created based on your requirements as well as a proposed budget. Both the design plans and the estimated budget will be discussed with you and any necessary adjustments will be made to ensure that the finished project meets with your approval. A good design and build company professional will work with you until everyone is in agreement on the plans before any actual work begins.

Hands on Material Selection

A professional designer will work with you to choose your NJ kitchen cabinets, countertops, plumbing fixtures, tile, and other important elements of your remodeling project. These decisions can feel overwhelming to a homeowner. Walking into a retail space, shopping online, or looking through samples can leave you more confused than when you first started. For example, the cabinets are your kitchen’s furniture. A renovation expert from a design & build company will help you find ones that reflect your personal style while meeting all of your needs. They will guide you through he entire process.

Cabinets are basically a box with drawers and shelves for storing items you need, but if they don’t suit your new kitchen or function properly for your individual needs, you won’t be happy. You have two options when it comes to cabinetry. A NJ kitchen cabinet designer can custom make the cupboards and drawers so that they fit your space perfectly or you can choose stock cabinetry and work around these existing pieces in order to achieve you goals. Your renovation designer will help you decide which option will best suit your style and the budget for your remodel.

Design Revisions

The last step in your renovation project before the actual work begins will be to make any necessary revisions that will incorporate all of your selections into one beautiful design. As the homeowner, you can rest assured that the selections you have made will all coordinate beautifully as well as function properly.

Your design and build company representative will make sure this happens by coordinating key elements so that the overall design has a nice flow. The fixtures, faucets, lighting, cabinet hardware, and any metal finish appliances need to not only look great on their own, but they need to compliment each other.

You won’t get this attention to detail with a general contractor. General contractors basically say ”I need X, Y, and Z by such and such date.” This is a horrible way to work, and the end result is never cohesive. Unfortunately, the cost is pretty much the same.

If you are looking for a hassle-free kitchen renovation, a design & build company is your best option. Their design team will walk you through each step of the designing stage. They will help you make important decisions, and they will ensure that your finished kitchen is both functional and beautiful with Hawthorne kitchen cabinets, countertops, and fixtures that work together in a cohesive fashion.

Cookware and Today’s Appliances

3:01 am

When a homeowner is considering a kitchen renovation, they seldom consider the type of appliances and cookware to buy as a top priority. In all of the excitement, you are more likely to focus on the flooring, wall colors, countertops, and other cosmetic aspects of the remodel, but if a fully functioning kitchen is what you are after, take a moment to discuss your stove top options with your NJ Kitchen Cabinet Designer.

Gas Versus Electric Stoves in Kitchen Remodels

If you will be replacing your existing stove as part of your NJ Kitchen Remodeling Design, you will need to look into the difference between a gas and an electric range. Both have advantages as well as disadvantages. There is no clear answer to the question of which one is best. That answer will depend on what you are familiar with, what style of hook up is available in your home, and what kind of cooking you plan to do.

Gas Stoves for your NJ Kitchen Design

gas stove

The biggest advantage to choosing a gas stove is the cooking. Once you turn a burner on, you have instant heat with a flame you can see. The flame it creates allows your food to cook quicker and more evenly. This is due to the way the flames spread across the bottom of the pans and wrap up around the sides. If you truly enjoy cooking, these small differences will be a huge plus.

On advantage to a gas stove that homeowners commonly overlook is that a gas range is less expensive to operate. If your kitchen is already set up for gas, you will also be saving money by not having to switch over to electric. Best of all, your energy costs will be lower.

The biggest drawback to a gas stove is the initial cost of the appliance itself. Gas stoves are usually more expensive than electric, and they cost more to hook up if the kitchen isn’t already set up for gas. The other problem is that it does use gas. While the burner is in use, it releases a steady flow of gas. A burner that is on but left unlit is dangerous.

Electric Stoves are feature rich

electric stove

Many of the electric stoves being sold today will have a glass top which looks sleek and stylish. These glass tops wipe clean easily. You don’t have to worry about removing burner rings for cleaning or wiping up spills that have hardened on to a gas nozzle.

Electric stoves are inexpensive to purchase or install and are simple to operate. This makes them an excellent choice for those that see cooking as a necessity rather than a hobby. Electric stoves also provide you with a very stable work surface. This is another advantage for beginning or amateur cooks. Plus, they have storage space underneath that is not found on gas ranges.

On the other hand, electric stoves cook food more slowly than gas. Bakers find them difficult for the simple fact that sugar spilled onto a hot electric stove surface is almost impossible to clean. Glass surfaces can become stained as well, which will distract from its beauty.

Keep in mind that if you live in an area with frequent power outages, you won’t be able to cook while the power is out. Electric stoves use a great amount of power. A generator may not provide enough energy to use it. Your monthly energy cost may be higher too.

Multi-tasking Cookware

Most home cooks find that you can use pretty much the same cookware on both types of stoves. Copper conducts heat beautifully which makes it a favorite for pots and pans. Cast iron is equally admired for its ability to retain heat. This is a big plus if you decide to go with an electric range, but what most homeowners are looking for these days is a modern set of cookware that is versatile enough to use for cooking, serving, and storing.

Companies such as Pyrex and Temptations offer sets that include mixing/serving bowls, lasagna pans, square nine by nine inch pans, and loaf pans that you can use in many ways. Food can be cooked in them, and they are designed to look elegant enough that you can place them on your table or buffet for serving. After you have finished the meal, coordinating covers can be snapped into place so that left overs can be placed in the freezer or refrigerator. You can re-heat these same foods in this cookware as well.

Another favorite among home cooks are the sets of pots and pans that can be placed in the oven. Manufacturers such as Lodge, Calphalon, and Cuisinart offer everything from sauce pans to Dutch ovens that you can use to cook with on top of the stove and then transfer into the oven for browning, baking, or keeping warm.

Finding the right type of stove and cookware will allow you to enjoy your newly remodeled kitchen to its fullest potential. Your new space will be both beautiful and functional so that you are getting the best of both worlds.

Boho Interior Design – What is boho design?

7:31 am

What is Boho Decorating?

boho interior decorating

Boho, or Bohemian, decorating is a way of filling your home with an eclectic mix of culture, life, and interesting objects from around the world. The style embraces relaxed and carefree elements. You will find that all Boho rooms will have a similar look and feel, but there are no two that look alike.

Boho is loved by those that enjoy an unconventional life. This includes people such as actors, travelers, and writers. You will find that Boho design combines colors objects, and patterns that reflect this type of lifestyle. The décor consists of a mix of items from a variety of places and cultures with no set theme in place. If you want your home to be a true reflection of exactly who you are, Boho will be your perfect design style.

Boho Colors

The first rule of Bohemian design is that there are no rules. Commonly used colors include Earth tones such as deep browns, grays, and greens, but it is not unusual to see bright jewel tones and metallic mixed in. Accessories often bring a pop of fiery orange, saturated purple, or electric blue into the room. This combination of colors all layered in together fits in perfectly with the true thought behind Boho design and will enhance your NJ kitchen remodeling project.

Give yourself the freedom to mix patterns and textures. Don’t shy away from styles that you normally wouldn’t use together in one room. Boho is certainly not a conventional way of decorating. Use textures and patterns from around the globe. This will add a sense of exoticism and fun to the space. Hang area rugs and tapestries on the walls, and layer throws on the furniture.

Bohemian Materials

Boho embraces the philosophy of more is better. Forget about the modern, minimalist, sleek designs used in most decorating. When capturing a Bohemian feel, don’t be afraid to mix and match materials freely. Burlap, sisal, and other natural materials can be combined with chenille and silks. Regardless of which materials you use, they should appear to be worn. Look for pieces that fall somewhere between shiny new and damaged.

Crochet, fringe, and macramé often find their way into Boho design. Use these elements around area rugs, throw pillows, and curtains. All of these materials combined together will create a cozy, worldwide inspired area. Canopies over the living spaces and beds are another signature look of this design style.

Boho Furniture

You won’t find Bohemian furniture in your local home stores. Boho rooms are filled with pieces that you collect over time. As you complete your NJ home remodeling projects, search for second-hand and vintage items in thrift stores and antique malls. Choose furniture that looks like it could tell a story. These items will be right at home in your Boho design.

You can also use plush sofas and chairs that are saturated in color to make you and your guests feel the vibe of Boho instantly. Over stuffed floor pillows and throw rugs can be considered extra seating as well as butterfly chairs, chaise lounges, and daybeds. Avoid straight back chairs or pieces that are streamlined. Boho should make people feel welcomed and as though you want them to stay awhile. The more comfortable it is, the better.

Boho Lighting

Your goal is understated, ambient lighting in a Boho room. It adds to the relaxed and comfortable vibe. Avoid overhead fixtures. Instead, look for candles, lanterns, and floor or table lamps for soft illumination. Search global markets for a variety of shapes and sizes to further enhance the mix and match design element.

Worldly Accessories

Since the whole idea of Boho design is to embrace the world, use hanging plants to give your home a natural feeling. This works especially well in your NJ kitchen remodeling project. They will improve the air quality while adding vibrancy to the space. The more plants you incorporate, the more Bohemian it will look. If you don’t have much luck with plants, consider using succulents. They come in a variety of colors and require very little care beyond occasional watering.

Complete your Boho style by adding in your family heirlooms, photos, handmade items, and souvenirs form your travels. Your accessories need to tell your family’s story. Showcase what you love whether that is a collection of vintage maps, bottles or mismatched dishes. Always remember that Boho design is based on an eclectic feel. You can even throw in a glamorous chandelier or chic gold framed mirror into the mix. The only rule with Bohemian decorating is that the finished room tells a story about you.

Custom Kitchen Range Hoods

3:01 am

The details make the difference when it comes to an elegant kitchen that is both functional and beautiful. You want every item to enhance and elevate the overall look and feel of the room, and this includes a custom kitchen range hood. A quality custom range hood is essential for clean air, but it can also become the focal point of your NJ home remodeling project when you choose a size, finish, and style that will fit in perfectly with your new kitchen design.

Custom Kitchen Range Hood

A Stylish Upgrade

Gone are the days when the kitchen range hood was nothing more than a necessity. Today’s designs are elegant enough to use as the focal point of your new kitchen. Brooks Custom offers range hoods that instantly add a bold design statement to your room. Their new artisan cast range hoods offer a stylish option for elegant kitchens while their bronze finished range hoods add warmth and charm to traditional spaces. You will even find ones created with a metal coating to look like sheet metal that are ideal for industrial designs.

Enhanced Lighting

Your range hood can be custom made to include overhead lighting that will make working at your stove so much easier. You will be able to clearly see your dishes as you prep and prepare meals in your kitchen. This additional task lighting will also help you when it comes to clean up. Proper lighting allows you to get all of that hard to see grease and grime that hides in every nook and cranny of your range top. Options in kitchen range hood lighting range from basic illumination that draws the eye to your beautiful backsplash to state-of-the-art designs for the serious home cook.

Improved Air Quality

Even though range hoods are a beautiful addition to any home kitchen, they do provide a very necessary service. A range hood’s most important job is to improve the quality of air in the kitchen. They are designed to remove smoke, odors, grease, and pollutants that are created while cooking. The air is drawn in through a fan and released outdoors or filtered and recirculated back into the room. By removing these irritants, you, your family, and guests are left with nothing more than the wonderful smell of the dishes you are creating.

Comfort

The heat produced while cooking can make the kitchen uncomfortable. Range hoods remove excess heat and steam, leaving the kitchen feeling comfortable while preparing food or entertaining. Don’t worry that it will interfere with the beautiful design of the room. Amore Design Factory offers stylish range hoods that blend in wonderfully with your existing countertops and cabinets. Rather than drawing attention, they enhance the look of all the one-of-a-kind items you have carefully selected for your new kitchen project.

Reduced Odors

As we mentioned already, a quality range hood will remove odors while you are cooking, but they also rid your home of those lingering odors that hang on long after your dinner was finished. The ventilation they provide eliminate scents that normally remain after clean-up. Rather than waking up the next day to a reminder of last night’s Italian feast or Friday’s fish fry, you will be able to enjoy the wonderful smell of breakfast as your family awakes.

Easy Clean-Up

Kitchens without a range hood often have a greasy film that develops over cabinets and countertops. This can ruin the appearance of your new kitchen remodel project as well as make cleaning a nightmare. A good ventilation hood can help prevent this greasy build-up and cut down on the clean-up time needed. Best of all, using the fan on your range hood can prevent the growth of mold and bacteria that can bother those with allergies or asthma. You will be able to rest assured that your kitchen is as healthy and clean as it is attractive.

A Good Investment

An updated kitchen is one of the best ways to invest in your home. Beautiful kitchens with modern appliances add to the resale value of any house. Choosing the right range hood will further add to this value as well as make the kitchen comfortable and convenient for your family while you are living there. Consider made to order range hoods from retailers like Range Craft to upgrade your home’s kitchen. You will be able to pick from finishes like copper, brass, and stainless steel as well as a variety of sizes and shapes to ensure that it is a piece that will blend in perfectly with your décor.

Talk to your kitchen remodeling contractor about how the right kitchen range hood can enhance and elevate your kitchen. Together, you can find the perfect size, style, and finish to compliment your space. Whether you are looking for a bold statement piece or simply an elegant and functional item that will blend in beautifully, you are sure to find one that suits your individual needs.

Various Types Of Built In Microwaves

11:04 pm

Who knew there were so many types of built in microwave ovens? They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes with a variety of features that will make you dizzy! Let’s take a look at each of these microwaves below and how they might work into your kitchen design. As a side note, please make sure to consult the manufacturer’s specifications for the optimal installation height for each as it will vary.

Built In Microwave Speed Oven

This built in microwave speed oven is the best thing you have never heard of. As the name implies, it cooks more quickly – how it does it is by adding an electrical heating element, just like you’d find in a full size electric wall oven. This appliance can be installed just above or below the counter but is not able to be installed in an upper cabinet as the flip down door gets in the way. It’s a great alternative to a full size second oven, especially when you’d like a wall oven but don’t have the space.

Built In Microwave Drawer

As you may imagine, this built in microwave drawer is best installed below the counter so you can see into the drawer from above. With a touch of s button the drawer pops open, ready to receive the goods, with another touch of the button the drawer retracts. This type of microwave is great if you tend to “reheat” more often than not. It’s also great for soups and younger children since the contents are moved in and out by the drawer, spills stay neatly contained in the drawer.

Built In Microwave In Cabinetry

This built in microwave may seem more familiar to you, it’s basically a standard microwave with special accessories (trim kit) that allow for it to be built into you kitchen cabinetry. This appliance is the most versatile in terms of placement,  and be as high as an upper cabinet and does just fine below the countertop as well. Some offer convection and other means of enhancements to speed up the cooking process.

Built In Microwave Over Range

This built in microwave packs all the same features as the unit above with the addition of being mounted above the range. This is a great alternative to having a separate hood and microwave when your either tight on budget or tight on space. It can be set up to be a ventilation device or as a recirculating fan with filters. Most microwave exhaust fans are over 400 cfm which means you will be required to install make up air per NJ building codes.

Built In Microwave Above Single Oven

Last but not least in our line up is the not so obvious built in microwave. Disguised as a double wall oven, the top portion of the appliance is a microwave oven with the added benefit of convection and/or electric element just like the first unit. This appliance will need to be installed where you’d typically install a double wall oven so you will need a fair amount of wall space. It’s a great way to free up other space if you’d prefer to have a wall oven for the convenience of height but don’t need a double wall oven.

Kitchen Island Lighting

Pendant Island Lighting

Kitchen Island Trends

Having an island in your kitchen is at the top of most homeowner’s desires nowadays. Depending on the space available there are many options for the type of kitchen island that will work best. Some of these include a pencil island which is roughly 24″ deep and runs about 5 or 6 feet long. If space allows, adding an additional 12″ of depth could allow for seating or additional storage or a combination of the two are even possible when space allows creating an island that is roughly 48″ x 96″. So it’s important to layout the space and design your kitchen island before creating the kitchen island lighting plan – too many variables need to be solidified first.

Kitchen Island Lighting Design

At this point you may be asking yourself if a kitchen island with pendants is right for your layout, whether 2 or 3 pendant lights feels right? The answer depends on a variety of different factors like island size, shape and functionality. Is the island used for cooking, washing dishes or preparing meals? Would the potential lighting elements enhance these functions? Would they block or obstruct the view? There area many tools on the internet that aid the calculations for this purpose but they do not account for the circumstances around the island that contribute to the requirements. Could you imagine an island 48″ x 120″ that does not have any accent lighting? The below image is exactly that and the reason is due to the fact that this huge island has a cooktop with an island hood in addition to seating, the main focal point is the island hood, adding lighting to accent the island in any way would have totally distracted from the hood which is clearly the star of the show here. The point is, if you input this into the lighting tools it would certainly tell you otherwise.

Kitchen Cabinets Should Fit Your Space & Your Lifestyle

Deciding on which kitchen cabinets to put in your kitchen is a very important decision, it’s a large investment and will most like be the largest single expense you will have when you are updating your kitchen. That being said, it is reasonable to think the kitchen cabinets will fit the space they are intended for, but they also need to fit your lifestyle, meaning, the combination of available door styles and cabinet finishes really need to capture who you are and set the right tone for your home. The accessories and options need to meet your families food preparation and storage needs. Last but not least, the kitchen cabinets have to fit within your given budget. Kitchen cabinets are produced at several price points with varying construction types/options by many different manufactures in and around NJ and even more within the United States. The better quality brands will stand out with a lifetime warranty, giving you a little more peace of mind knowing your kitchen cabinet purchase and investment will be safe for years to come.

Construction & Components Of Kitchen Cabinets

The difference between your kitchen cabinets lasting a few years or a few decades is largely attributed to the way in which they have been constructed and assembled. Have you ever purchased a cheap set of utensils like forks, spoons and knives, and after a year or two you have about two of each left? The same can be said for inexpensive kitchen cabinets except they are not that cheap or easily replaced. Kitchen cabinets made of solid wood face frames, all plywood cabinets boxes and solid wood dovetail drawer boxes have the best chance of standing the test of time in your kitchen. How the components are manufactured and assembled will also determine how long the kitchen cabinets will last. Look for components that are fitted into one another using wood joinery techniques like dados and rabbeting that are glued and fastened together. The overall appearance should be neat and clean reflecting a pride in craftsmanship. The best door hinges and drawer glides are made by Blum or Grass and have their own lifetime warranty, there are plenty of imitations out there so don’t hesitate to ask – most premature cabinet failures are due to poor quality hardware.

Inset Kitchen Cabinets vs Overlay Kitchen Cabinets

At some point during the planning of your kitchen cabinets you will be asked if you are looking for inset or overlay cabinets. inset kitchen cabinets refer to the door and drawers of the kitchen cabinets that are recessed into the face frame of the cabinet. The advantages of this style are: clean look, very traditional and very much a furniture like detail. Disadvantages of this style are: less interior cabinet space, costs more to do since it’s a custom feature and reduced drawer head sizes means less room for drawer hardware. Overlay kitchen cabinets refers to the doors and drawers of the kitchen cabinet that sit over the frame of the cabinet. This style of kitchen cabinets are the most popular and are are widely produced as stock, semi-custom or custom kitchen cabinets providing the most price point options available. Inset kitchen cabinets are typically produced by custom cabinet manufacturers with higher quality standards, on the other hand, overlay kitchen cabinets are made by all sorts of manufactures, each having their own quality standards so pay close attention to the details.

Kitchen Cabinet Accessories & Options

Selecting the right accessories for your new kitchen cabinets can help you utilize the cabinets to their fullest potential. Kitchen cabinets with roll out shelves is number one on my list – the addition of these rollout shelves allows you to reference the goods all the way at the back of the cabinet just by pulling out the shelf. Double can roll out trash would be second on my list – mainly because it can be placed in the most convenient place for the user and does not take up any additional space in the kitchen. Cooking utensils and cutlery storage drawers would be next followed by spice storage that can either be as a pullout next to the range or on stepped shelves in the bottom of a upper cabinet next tot the range. From there the accessories and options can be tailored to the users specific needs. One word of advice would be to stay away from accessories that over complicate things, the goal is to improve the overall user experience and use of the kitchen cabinets. If you have an existing kitchen and you’re looking to update the functionality, take a look at some aftermarket kitchen cabinet accessory manufacturers like Rev-A-Shelf and Hafele. They both offer a wide variety of cabinet organizational options. Hafele also carries decorative kitchen cabinet hardware.

Embellish Your Kitchen Cabinets With Furniture Details

Take your kitchen cabinets to the next level with the addition of furniture details, here are a few examples and ideas; furniture base molding on island cabinets, adding cabinet door panels to the open ends of upper cabinets and lower cabinets, multiple piece crown moldings, support countertop overhangs with either a decorative bracket/corbel or a turned/carved newel post. While most of the options sound very traditional many kitchen cabinet manufactures have adopted a wide array of complementary components to be used in more transitional and contemporary styles. On the converse, furniture details for kitchen cabinets does not have to mean the addition of the above mentioned components, true furniture details can be found at the beginning of the process in the kitchen design plans in the form of how the different components are married together to create a set of kitchen cabinets that appear to all be made as one piece with clean lines and mounding that tie every together. Achieving this level of detail may be difficult using stock cabinets but it is certainly possible with semi custom kitchen cabinets and if your budget allows for it, custom kitchen cabinets will allow for the most flexibility in terms of how you can add your own personal taste to the furniture details.

How to Choose A Kitchen Cabinet Door Style

To make this decision you should start by taking a look st your kitchen cabinet design plans elevations, this is the front view of your kitchen cabinets as they will appear on the walls of your kitchen. Survey the plans to gather an understanding of the various sizes of cabinets that make up the design. Now keep this in mind as you are looking at the kitchen cabinet door styles, you’ll want to make sure the that the door style works as well for the largest cabinets and the smallest cabinets, in particular would be the narrow cabinets. It may even be possible that the kitchen design plan will need to be tweaked to accommodate a particular door style you have chosen. The next consideration would be for the decorative hardware that will get mounted to the various kitchen cabinets doors and drawers – some kitchen cabinet doors and drawers have either raised or recessed panels that create an opportunity or an issue depending on which decorative hardware is selected, looking ahead at this selection will help guide you in the right direction. The final consideration is how will the kitchen cabinet stain or painted finish look on the door/drawers.

Paint, Stain & Other Kitchen Cabinet Finishes

The decision to go with either a painted kitchen cabinet finish or a stained kitchen cabinet finish is subjective, and although there is a big difference between the two in terms of appearance, both are equally as durable. The reason this is the case is because after the kitchen cabinets are either painted or stained, they received a top coat of clear, durable conversion varnish or similar coating that locks down the previous coating and protects from everyday use, without this final step your kitchen cabinets would show signs of wear very prematurely causing an unsightly appearance followed by additional damage. Some other kitchen cabinet finishes that are not so mainstream include; the use of reactive agents that tan the wood and bring out the natural characteristics, flaming the wood with the use of a torch to blacken the wood then removing the heaviest and softest parts on the surface by using a wire brush, the end result yields a very aged appearance. The application of glazes and dyes are another way to achieve an aged or weathered look and even an antique look using the same materials and varying the application process.

What To Look For In A Kitchen Cabinet Warranty

Deciding to purchase new kitchen cabinets is major financial commitment, having a good manufactures warranty will help give you peace of mind knowing your investment is protected. Look for kitchen cabinet warranties that cover the product for as long as you own it. This will be advertised as a “Lifetime Warranty” or more accurately as a “Limited Lifetime Warranty”. The best warranties will include full replacement of any defective parts/components with very few exceptions. Typically the single largest exclusion is damage caused by water, this may seem counter-intuitive but it is totally the norm for kitchen cabinet warranties. Another common exclusion is the labor associated with the defective parts/components replacement, this is where the kitchen cabinet installer’s company comes into play, it’s a good idea to review these terms with the kitchen installer and how they typically handle these types of kitchen cabinet warranty repairs. Verify that your kitchen cabinet installer will follow all manufacturer’s written installation instructions is the best way to ensure you do not void all or part of your warranty should a shoddy installation take place.

Adjustable rollouts in kitchen cabinets

Kitchen cabinets come with a standard adjustable shelf which can be upgraded with a rollout or multiple rollouts, typically in a base or utility style cabinet with a depth of at least 18 inches, any less than that and the rollout would not be too useful. The standard depth of a base or utility cabinet would be 24 inches and is too deep to reference the items near the back of the cabinet, the addition of a rollout shelves makes use of the entire cabinet by allowing you to see what is in the back. Cabinets with built-in trash and recycling cans

Cabinet with built-in trash or recycling cans are a must have in today’s kitchens. Some Space planning considerations need to be made in advance to ensure you get the size and or quantity you were looking for. In an 18 inch wide base cabinet comes a single 50 quart can, in order to have a double 50 quart can you would need a 21 inch wide base cabinet. Some of the latest models even have a spot for your paper towels! Look for cabinets that have built-in trash or recycling containers that are built was a sturdy wooden construction, preferably dovetail box and heavy duty Undermount soft close drawer glides. Adding a tray divider to a base cabinet is a great way to not only free up space in other cabinets since it reduces the need to stack items on top of each other and it allows you to organize your trays and cutting boards in a way that makes sense for how you use them. Now you will have no excuse to make that recipe that requires the muffin tin of the bottom of the cabinet! In addition to baking sheets, muffin tins, and cutting boards, the base cabinet tray divider can also be used for pizza stones.

Spice organizers for upper & lower cabinets

Cabinet companies like Schrock and Decora Cabinets offer plenty of solutions when it comes to organizing spices, however, other solutions exist at aftermarket suppliers such as the container store, bed bath and beyond, Rev-A-Shelf and so on. When it comes to spice organization it’s really all about use and accessibility, having spices neatly organized in an inconvenient place does the cook no good.
