Home Trends in 2015: The Kitchen

Home Remodeling

Home design is constantly evolving. As new ideas emerge, new trends are born. While classic designs remain prominent throughout, more modern ideas come forward. As a company that specializes in NJ kitchen remodeling projects, we stay up to date with what’s happening in the field. Whether purely cosmetic trends or new functionalities worked into design, the industry is expansive, and the options – endless.

Today we’d like to take a look at a few kitchen design trends which have been prevalent in 2015:

1. High Cabinets: Classically, we tend to see cabinets that end multiple feet below the ceiling. In recent times, we’ve seen an increase in the demand of tall cabinets which in many cases touch the ceiling of the kitchen.

2. Island cooktop / free range hoods: We’ve seen a migration in the setting of the stovetop switch from at the wall to on the island. This allows one to create a beautiful look with a free range hood above the island.

3. Contrasting colors: Another trend many have taken to in recent times is heavily contrasting colors. For example, mahogany cabinetry with a pale to white backsplash in the kitchen.

4. Mixed counters: Whether on your kitchen island or classic counters flush against the wall, mixing materials on countertops has been seen as a recent trend in kitchen design. An island can double as an eatery by splitting between wood and tile. This creates a beautiful aesthetic.

These are just a handful of recent trends. To learn more about kitchen remodeling and different options for your home, get in touch with the professionals at Trade Mark Design & Build today! 973-636-0100
