Kitchen Remodel in Hillsdale, NJ

Home Remodeling

Trade Mark Design & Build was hired to complete this “turn-key” Kitchen Remodel in Hillsdale, NJ, located on the much sought after “West Hill”.  The homeowners had some ideas as to what they would like see in the newly remodeled kitchen, but needed help to bring it all together.

Semi Custom Kitchen Cabinetry with a two tone finish

With a wide variety of door styles, colors and finishes available it made sense to utilize Schrock’s semi custom cabinetry for this Kitchen Remodel in Hillsdale, NJ. One the main part of the kitchen cabinets we used a Parker maple door with a painted coconut finish – for the desk area and wooden countertop we used a Harper door style in a rustic alder palomino stained finish. Mixing a painted finish with a stained finish adds to the relaxed feeling the homeowners were looking for.

Corner Range and Hood as the main focal point

The kitchen is long and narrow which made it a challenge to design. We placed the 36″ Jenn Air range on the corner to create a much needed focal point in the room, it also helped as the wall to the right of it was too short for such a large range. The custom two tone stainless steel hood by Vent-A-Hood helps anchor the space while adding a nice flare. The corner range is also a good idea for tighter kitchen remodels as it makes for a very efficient kitchen design plan.

Farm Sink and Interesting Window layout as a secondary focal point

Here we used Anderson 400 series windows and created an interesting arrangement by having the casements that flank the picture window be just a little longer. It also serves as a backsplash area to the 33″ Self Rimming Farm Sink by Kohler. For extra large pots we installed a tall goose neck Kohler Artifacts faucet with pullout sprayer in polished nickle.

Granite and Wood Countertops to mix it up

As mentioned earlier, the kitchen is long and as such, having just one type of countertop would make it even more pronounced so we opted to mix it up and add in some wood countertops with the granite countertops. The wood countertops are used as an accent for the attached table and for the desk area since they are less durable that their granite counterparts.

Porcelain Tile floor in a French Pattern

To pull it all together we chose a porcelain tile floor from Wayne Tile in Ramsey, NJ – the tile has all the colors of the kitchen and compliments the adjacent rooms perfectly. The tile is laid in a french pattern which creates interest both visually as well as texturally.
